More buildings.
Less back and forth.

Apartment blocks bring a different kind of fibre challenge. Openreach is using building capture and 3D planning to make the survey work harder.

The challenge

One block.
A lot to get right.

Communal entrances. Risers. Corridors. Individual front doors. Each building has its own route to full fibre.

Openreach describes a process traditionally dependent on repeat visits, manual measurements and paperwork. Capturing the building gives the team a shared view of the spaces where that network needs to go.

Bring the cable routes, equipment and building layout into one view.

From the first visit.
Into the plan.

The published four-storey example breaks the work into two focused steps.

15 minutes

Capture the building.

Walk the shared spaces with a supported iPhone or iPad. NET InHouse captures the building and supports planning on site.

20 minutes

Make the route clear.

Use the building model to place equipment and plan the fibre route. The plan stays with the job, alongside site photos and progress updates.

Timing example: Digitalnauts’ Holoplan case study. Results relate to the published examples and will vary by building and workflow. Earlier source material uses the Holoplan name.
